Founded by Herbert Brown back in 1915, we have been weaving luxury fabrics and uniforms for the past century. All from the same site in Yorkshire, England.
An introduction to our mill
We are one of the largest worsted textile manufacturers in the UK. Still proudly owned and run by the Brown family. For over a century we have built our reputation for quality, consistency and value; supplying fabrics to the the world's leading merchants, brands and designers.
Our mill (Empire Mills) is designed to weave fabric in volume. We have been perfecting weaving efficiencies since we started weaving military uniforms back in 1915. Continued investment in the latest weaving technologies and economies of scale places us in a unique position to offer cloth of the highest quality at a fair price.
We weave fabric for suits which are made to be worn.
We have launched our direct to tailor platform to bring these benefits to the American tailoring market.
Our Empire Mills Weaving Shed: All our cloth is woven in the same weaving shed as when we began making military uniforms back in 1915. Back then we could weave 2,500m of fabric a week, today thanks to continued investment in the latest weaving technology we can weave 25,000m a week.
