We are a family mill, in 1915 Herbert Brown (my great, great grandfather) established Brown & Sons (Bramley), making us 105 years old this year! We originally produced fabric for the uniforms of the police and fire brigade and to this day, our fabric is used by the most prestigious establishments including the Royal Household Guard. Over the years our customer base and product has changed a lot, but it’s still all woven in England at Empire Mills, Yorkshire. That much will never change. Throughout the 1960’s, third generation Brown family Alfred and David were at the forefront of the booming Yorkshire textile industry. We embraced modern technology and built strong relationships with iconic department stores and world leading garment manufacturers, including Burton (who were the biggest suit manufacturers in the world at that point in time).
